EKVC provides seven scholarships

As the school year starts again this photo from grad ceremonies in June show how hard work and participation can have great payoffs. This September these students from Mt. Baker Secondary School will have lessened some of the financial burden of post- secondary education by being active members of the East Kootenay Volleyball Club (EKVC).

Five awards, each in the amount of $200, is given to five students in recognition of their athlete commitment to East Kootenay Volleyball Club for several years. The recipients have played club volleyball for several years; been involved in both EKVC indoor and beach programs; and supported ongoing volleyball promotion in the East Kootenay by officiating, assistant coaching, and fundraising.

The successful applicants for this year are: Graydon Dawson, Chelsea Dillabough, Sheldon Thomas, Zachary van der Velden and Tristan van der Velden.

EKVC also presented two additional scholarship awards, each in the amount of $500, in recognition of the students’ athletic achievement and signed commitment to play volleyball for a post-secondary Institution.

This year’s successful applicants are Riley Byman and Jordan Simpson.  Both Riley and Jordan will be playing for College of the Rockies.
