Ā Friday Highways Report for the East KootenayĀ is a snapshot to give the travelling public a glimpse of what they may be heading into or out of this weekend.

Regional driving conditions for Friday, Jan. 29 are typical for January. Considering the increase in COVID-19 transmissions and current Provincial Health Officer orders against travel AND winter driving conditions across the board ā€“ chose to stay home and off the highways if you can.

Sparwood to Elkford

Winter driving conditions. Compact snow; snowing.

Highway 3 east of Sparwood

 

Sparwood to Fernie

Winter driving conditions. Watch for slippery sections. Snowing.

Fernie to Elko

Winter driving conditions. Compact snow. Slushy with slippery sections. Snowing.

Vehicle recovery between Elko Tunnel and Morrissey Road (13 km west of Fernie) occurring in late morning. Single lane alternating traffic. Expect delays. Watch for traffic control.
