Fernie reviewing Community Bins Service
The City of Fernie is reviewing the Community Bins Service and wants your input.
The city has four bear-resistant bins around town that are available 24/7 for public use. These bins were meant to help residents who miss their curbside pickup or don’t have a safe place to store garbage between collection days.
Lately, the bins have been used in ways they weren’t intended for—like dumping large items, furniture, and commercial waste. This fills them up quickly, makes it harder for others to use them, and leads to garbage being left outside the bins.
Because of these issues, the service can’t continue the way it is now. We want your feedback to help inform what comes next.
