Bull Riding in the Rockies 25 another thunderous hit
The 25th running of Bull Riding in the Rockies was another smash success in downtown Invermere Friday, July 18.
The rodeo grounds across from Eddie Mountain Memorial Arena was standing room only as bull riders from around Canada (including Invermere and Creston), the USA, Brazil and Paraguay braved eight second rides of thrashing steer mayhem.
The popular event staged by the Columbia Valley Rockies of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League also featured a round of Mexican Poker, with four cowboys daring to stay seated and play cards while a bull is encouraged to charge them by the endlessly courageous rodeo clowns.
It took three bulls to begin dislodging the players with local Hunter Scrimshaw the last brave soul ‘sitting.’
The bull riding portion of the evening was concluded just as a massive thunderstorm broke loose.
Winning riders were Co-Champions: Auzyn Corr of Dawson Creek and Tristan Manning of Edson, Alberta.
The Junior Bull Champion was Koaltyn Ogilvie of Sundre, AB.
Please take a look at some of the action and fun Friday night in Invermere.
